Dorothea Buxton-Hyde
Staffordshire-born Dorothea began painting at the age of four and developed her art painting on porcelain for Spode in 1958.
She became a professional artist in her own right in 1978 and exhibited in Criccieth, Porthmadog, whilst living in North Wales, and Beddgelert.
In 1983, she was elected as a Member of the Fine Art Trade Guild following a successful exhibition at the London Art Gallery.
Dorothea launched her own publishing company, Ambre Roche, in 1989 and, with the help of her husband Philip, distributes her work through galleries in Great Britain, Europe, South Africa, Australia, Canada and the United States of America.
Starting with Landscape subjects, Dorothea extended her artistic range to include: Wildlife, Flora, Still-life, Abstract and Figure work.
In 1989, Dorothea had the honour of being presented to Princess Michael of Kent when her work was featured in an exhibition at Drapers' Hall, London.
In 1993, Dorothea became Artist of the Year finalist and was nominated and included in the Who’s Who of Professionals.
Dorothea has three children, Lucy, Jeffrey and Keith and relaxes by making stained-glass windows, walking, spending time with her family, listening to music and watching ballet.
